I’m backtracking a bit as I didn’t get a chance to upload photos from a day touring Christiana – a cool area of Copenhagen where they are known for bike designs (housing a cool bike store), drug dealing (no cameras allowed), co-0p housing where mostly professionals live (doctors, lawyers etc) and no one actually owns land. It’s a neat area to see and experience.

Here are some photos from May 18th and 19th…

Here are some images from May 24th – walked around a different area of Copenhagen and really enjoyed the new area we are staying in. The area is called Osterbro.

I got a little behind in my posts and finally got a chance to view the photos I took from around May 20th before Perry and Sandra’s wedding. One of our favorite spots is in this fantastic grave yard…we’ve gone back several times and this time I grabbed my macro lens to take some close ups of the fabulous flora & fauna.

Fantastic shot of espresso from The Coffee Collective. Fun visiting with Linus there as well. He sent us to Koppi in Sweden...

Here are a few teasers from the wedding I photographed on Friday. Perry and Sandra were married in a 12th century monastery in a small town on the coast of Sweden a couple of hours from Copenhagen, Denmark. It was a lovely day and there are a lot of Danish and Swedish traditions I got to experience during the reception such as cutting the bride’s veil into many pieces, cutting the toes of the groom’s socks, surrounding the bride and groom during the first dance and clapping in unison while closing in around them, having a line of men kissing the bride and women kissing the groom. It was pretty cool to witness and be a part of this fabulous event. Congratulations to the beautiful couple – Perry and Sandra and I hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon! See you in Edmonton in June!

Yesterday it rained pretty much all day so I didn’t bring my camera with me when we went for a walk…It was kinda nice to not have the extra weight but it felt weird not to have it with me. The three of us went downtown and had some coffee at Risteriet. The espresso had too much bite and the almond pastry we had was delicious I thought. A couple days ago Sandra, Linnea and I went for ice cream (ok I ate the ice cream all by myself) and we went for a walk at the beach while we ate lunch. Linnea also loved eating a strawberry all by herself…Below are photos of these experiences. 🙂 I continue to learn a little Danish but will likely only remember “Tak!” for “thank you” and excuse me in Danish and basic greetings. Although I know how to order a danish in the bakery too…this is important!

My soft ice cream close up. I thought for sure it would fall off the cone or something, but no, it was solid all the way through the cone. I ate almost all of it. I made it halfway through the cone and then gave up. Mmmmm...

It was a gorgeous sunny day and although we saw dark looming clouds we never did get any rain. Today we walked down the main shopping street in downtown Copenhagen. Linnea and I spent the day with Perry’s fiancee Sandra and had a good time. It’s nice to hang out with a local! Here are some photos from yesterday and today.

We started our day off with a coffee. Now typically we would have a traditional cappuccino (small cup about 6 ozs) and then maybe follow it up with a double shot espresso. Today we went to a cafe beside a great roaster Kontra Coffee and thought we’d try a double cappuccino and back home that would mean a double shot instead of a single shot. We got double the milk instead (as well as a double shot) so it was basically a huge latte (milk drink) and you couldn’t even taste the espresso and they sprinkled on cocoa as well…needless to say we were disappointed. To top it off the drink cost us $10 Canadian each.

Last night we cut Linnea’s hair for the very first time. I waited for as long as I could but getting her hair caught in her mouth when trying to feed her was getting more and more annoying and sticky so both Jeff and I got a hold of the scissors and went chop! I did the first chop and man did I cut her bangs crooked. Haircutting and styling is definitely not my skill or forte but it was fun!! Here’s some photos of her with short bangs (before, during and after). 🙂_MG_0198

Here is the coolest building ever! The apartment we’re staying in Copenhagen is absolutely fabulous and is actually one of two redone grain silos! Check out the architecture!!

Today was a full day of exploring for us! Jeff, Linnea and I started off with a lovely walk downtown and visited the Glyptotek which is a collection of sculpture. We also went out to the country and visited an amazingly beautiful castle and gardens. I love castles so this was especially nice for me. We also walked around a marina outside of Copenhagen which was lovely too. It was mother’s day for me and I’ve included a photo of Linnea and I after she woke up from a nap and one of Linnea napping on Jeff’s shoulder while visiting the castle and one of when she’s awake and happy. It was a good day finished off with tasty Vietnamese food.

Well, here’s my first post from Copenhagen…we walked around today and enjoyed some great espresso at the Coffee Collective, some ice cream (gelato) and great sushi for dinner. I took photos through a cool graveyard where Hans Christian Andersen was buried. Hope you like these images! There’s some e-session photos of Per and Sandra too! I don’t have my normal editing set up here: no mouse, no wacom tablet…so they’re pretty basic adjustments. 🙂 More edited work will be uploaded once I’m back at my normal workstation.
